  • Transfer of Care Guidelines
For the past year, the Ambulatory Surgery Foundation (the Foundation) and the Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States (MHAUS) have been working on an important patient safety initiative referred to as the Transfer of Care project with the objective to assist ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) with the development of guidelines for the care and transfer of a suspected MH patient from an ASC to a local acute care hospital.

Transfer of Care Guidelines

A panel comprised of health care professionals (HCPs) with expertise in MH and representing all points in the transfer continuum from HCPs in the ASC setting, to emergency medical technicians (EMTs) in the ambulance, to professionals in a hospital's emergency department worked diligently to develop guidelines that will be useful for all types of ASCs, regardless of their size, location or resources.

These transfer of care guidelines are now available for your review during a 30-day public comment period. Download the proposed transfer of care guidelines below. All comments should be submitted by November 15, 2009.  Please click on the following link to view the guideline and access the short survey form to share your feedback and opinion. http://bit.ly/3x2PAX
